It is a legal requirement that employers have made arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or suddenly take ill at work. 
 
This training course is designed to provide the workplace with trained personnel who are able to deal safely and effectively with a person who has been injured or suffered sudden illness prior to medical aid being obtained and meets the legal requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and specifically the
1981 Health and Safety First Aid at Work regulations. 

Prerequisites

Under HSE (First Aid) at Work regulations 1981, an employer when selecting someone to take up the roll of a “First Aider” should take into account the following factors:- 

• reliability, disposition and communication skills
• aptitude and ability to absorb new knowledge and learn new skills
• ability to cope with stressful and physically demanding emergency
   procedures
• normal duties.  These should be such that they may be left to go
   immediately and rapidly to an emergency.

Duration

• 4 day instructor led course 
• The legal requirements state that delegates MUST attend a minimum of 24 contact hours excluding breaks

Summative Examination

At the end of the course delegates will be assessed against their knowledge and practical abilities by independent examination.  Successful delegates will receive the qualification below.

Qualification

HSE approved First Aid at Work certificate (valid for 3 years)
