Course Description

This course is designed to train personnel to pass the DSA driving examinations to become a Car Driving Instructor.

Qualification onto the register will depend on passing the 3 part entrance examination including,
PART 1 - A touch screen based theory test.
PART 2 - Practical test of driving ability.
PART 3 - Practical test of instructional ability

Prerequisites
When applying to become a driving instructor, you must fulfil the following legal requirements:

  • Hold a full UK or European Economic Area (EEA) unrestricted car driving licence
  • Have held it for a total of at least four out of the past six years prior to entering the register after qualifying
  • Not have been disqualified from driving at any time in four years prior to being on the register
  • Be a "fit and proper" person to have your name entered on the Register. You will be required to have an enhanced level criminal record check. The information from this check will be used by us to assess the suitability of persons applying for inclusion on the Register of Approved Driving Instructors.
