Course Description
This course is designed for drivers of lorries of 3.5 tons or more and minibuses with 9 seats or more, who wish to obtain the knowledge and confidence required to carry out daily vehicle checks and vehicle security.
Prerequisites
Drivers must hold an LGV licence of 3.5 tons or more or a PCV bus or minibus license for vehicles with 9 seats or more.
Who should attend this training course?
All drivers who fall under the EU Directive 2003/59 that wish to gain an understanding of how to carry out vehicle checks in compliance with VOSA guidelines and safe parking procedures.
• How to assess fitness required to drive LGV & PCV vehicles i.e medical rules, effects of drink and drugs.
• Signs of sleep deprivation
• Overnight parking of LGV/PCV vehicles
• Stowaways and security of luggage or loads whilst parked
• Practical demonstration on how to correctly inspect a vehicle before being driven on the road.
Attending this course will allow you to gain 3.5 hours towards your periodic training but must be combined with another course of 3.5 hours to enable the training to be eligible to count towards 1 day of your Driver CPC.
Where a course of 7 hours is split into two parts the second must start within 24 hours of completion of the first part.
