Course Description
The Drivers CPC Training course is designed to teach Transport related topics based around Regulation (EEC) No 3820/85 & 3821/85 Periodic Training for the Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence Card.
All drivers, new and existing, will have to undertake 35 hours of training every five years to ensure that their Driver CPC is kept up-to-date. This is known as Periodic Training. This Directive became effective on 10 September 2008 for the PCV sector and will come into effect on 10 September 2009 for the LGV sector.
Periodic training is designed to complement the individual drivers work and be relevant to their everyday job. Courses can be tailor made and may include safe and fuel efficient driving, access emergency situations, manual handling techniques, driver's hour's regulations, tachographs, customer care and ADR. Courses will also enable drivers to keep up to date with changing regulations.
Prerequisites
Must hold a valid drivers licence in one of the following categories of vehicles C1, C, C+E, D1, D.
Who should attend this training course?
Anyone required to drive an LGV or PCV in a professional manner. The course can be done as a block or spread out over the 5 years. Those who requires a LGV or PCV licence in order to do their job will be required to update their Drivers CPC card by recording 35 hours of modular training to enable them to continue to drive professionally.
