Health and safety inspections

GTG's Health and Safety Advisory Service, carries out workplace inspections every three months thereafter the audit (service option 1&2). These do more than just help identify potential hazards, they also show your employees that you are taking your responsibilities as an employer seriously.

Formal inspections are no substitute for continued daily observation by supervisors and management. They provide a useful opportunity to carry out a full-scale examination of all, or part of the workplace. An inspection is not just looking around the workplace, it includes the inspection of documents required by health and safety legislation such as risk assessments and certificates concerning the testing of equipment.

A typical inspection will cover the following areas:

  • Housekeeping
  • Safe storage, use, transportation and disposal of chemicals
  • Fire precautions
  • Electrical safety
  • First aid provisions
  • Lifting activities
  • Machinery and equipment
  • Personal protective clothing
  • Slip, trip and fall hazards
  • Welfare facilities
  • Workplace conditions
