Being subjected to loud noise causes deafness and other types of hearing damage. Employers have a duty under health and safety law to reduce the risk of hearing damage to their employees by controlling exposure to noise (Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005). To carry out this duty, you need to know which employees are at risk, and what the level of that risk is.

GTG's professional noise risk assessment complies with current legislation. A report is submitted, listing the measurements, advice on who is at risk, which areas should be ear protection zones, which employees are recommended to wear ear protection and which type of protection this should be. A key section in the report, the Noise Action Plan, provides the vital link between the assessment of the risks and their control. The requirement to eliminate at source or, where this is not reasonably practicable, reduced to as low a level as is reasonably practicable is the key requirement of the new noise regulations.

Using the latest equipment, GTG advisors can undertake this noise survey for you, providing valuable data on the noise risk levels present and helping you comply with the regulations. In order to make a plan to tackle noise problems, you need to know what is causing the risk (what processes, machines, etc) and what the priorities for any action are.
