GTG nominated for prestigious award

GTG Training Nominated for Prestigious Award...

GTG Training in Glasgow is delighted to announce its recent nomination in the prestigious Scottish Event Awards. The eye-catching facility on South Street faces strong competition in its nominated category of ‘Best Unusual Venue'.

Chosen for the unique training and conference centre's ability to host events as a secondary function to its normal business, GTG will battle it out against infamous locations and venues such as Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle, Oran Mor (Glasgow) and The Arches (Glasgow) to be crowned Best Unusual Venue.

With the winner announced at a glittering ceremony on 11th September 2009 at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow, staff and management are excited, proud and confident GTG will do well against its fellow nominees. David Scott, chief executive of GTG, said, "I truly believe that GTG has the credentials to win this award. Not only does it provide a working and training environment for apprentices but has also been utilised for a selection of speciality events with formidable success."

GTG was selected for its uniqueness as an event venue. Set in juxtaposition between the historic ship builders and industrial buildings that dominate Glasgow's South Street, the front of the GTG building looks out over perfectly landscape gardens and vast (free) car park. The main atrium, with 20ft full length windows, offers natural daylight to the reception area, café and leather couched seating area.

A 200 seat conference suite is concealed within the main atrium and can also be opened out and extended to include the café area and front hall providing an innovative arena for product launches or to host small to medium events and conferences.

Cleverly disguised, frosted glass meeting rooms are situated above the conference area, looking out over South Street and are perfect for hosting meetings, focus groups and interviews.

But...what really sets GTG aside from its competitors is the diversity of the new facilities. The 61,000 sq ft building is split into two sections; the business and IT section where the main conference suites and meeting rooms are situated and the fully functional automotive section where additional meeting rooms and events space can be hired out, providing a fascinating twist to any meeting or event.

GTG's purpose built Training and Conference centre has hosted a variety of different events including:

  • The Prince's Trust ‘Get Into Cars' Awards 2009
  • Launch of the ‘Commonwealth Apprenticeship Initiative' by Councillor Stephen Purcell, Leader of Glasgow City Council
  • GTG Annual Modern Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony 2009
  • Bodyshop/Thatcham Regional Craft Award Competition 2009
  • Various topical Breakfast seminars and meetings
  • HR and Recruitment Interviews
  • Focus Group meetings

Over the next few weeks judges from a variety of business backgrounds will assess the venue against its competitors before the final decision of Best Unusual Venue is announced.
