Fuel Efficient Driving

Become a fuel efficient driver at fuel efficient costs

GTG Training is dedicated to making life easier and that is why it is helping drivers run their cars more efficiently. The leading training provider, with premises in Glasgow and Edinburgh, aims to help drivers get the most from their motoring experience with its fantastic Fuel Efficient Driving (FED) course. Recently introduced, the course encourages drivers to become more fuel efficient on today's busy roads. The course is designed to assess road skills, identify and improve upon areas of deficiency in relation to driving standards.

This course is suitable for a vast array of groups, whether an individual wishes to attend the course for personal reasons or as part of an employers risk assessment or health and safety policy. Each participant of this course has the potential to gain both personal and economic benefits.

To help you beat the crunch, Billy Hammond, the course leader of FED has given some helpful hints on how to be a more fuel efficient driver:-

1. Plan your route. A bit of forethought can save much wear and tear- for the car and the driver. Try to take the most direct route and go off peak if possible. Sitting in congestion can often mean you are doing zero miles per gallon.

2. Have your vehicle serviced regularly. This helps maintain efficient running and good economy. Inefficient, under-serviced engines can reduce fuel economy by ten percent or more. Catalytic converters are environmentally friendly- but only if they are properly maintained.

3. Under inflated tyres create more resistance when your car is moving, which means your engine has to work harder, so more fuel is used and more CO2 emissions are produced. Simply check and adjust your tyre pressures regularly and also before long journeys. This will also help to increase the life of your tyres. Under inflated tyres increase CO2 but over inflated tyres can be unsafe so check your car manual for the correct tyre pressure. Remember, a car with a heavier load may need different air pressure in the tyres.

With these helpful hints and economic prices, Arnold Clark and GTG Training are working together to ensure that customers aren't feeling the pinch this winter.
