Wednesday 4th May saw GTG Training Centre host the Scottish Final of the RTITB Operator of the Year Competition 2011. The event gives forklift truck operators, their employers and their trainers the chance to showcase a range of excellent training and operating skills.

Nationally recognised as a key lift truck safety and competency competition, the RTITB Operator of the Year event prides itself on highlighting safe operating procedures and high standards. The competition also aims to acknowledge the hard work and skill that lift truck operators deliver daily in their jobs, whilst raising awareness of the need for recognised qualifications. In keeping with this outlook, GTG Training offer fully accredited, instructor-led Forklift Operator courses for any personnel who wish to achieve a high standard of tuition and gain, or simply refresh, a certificate of competence.

Chairman of GTG Training David Scott said, “ We are proud to host the Scottish Final of the RTITB Operator of the Year Competition and will continue to be supportive of the training and hard work required by lift truck operators. We have been very impressed by the calibre of the skill displayed by the competitors here today.”

There were four tests for the finalists to undertake, which were marked on a ‘penalties’ basis. GTG Training were proud to have their very own trainee Glen Doyle in the Scottish finals but following a closely run race, Paul Stollard, HSE’s Director in Scotland crowned Robert Watson Scottish National Champion. He will go forward to the Grand Final on 16th September 2011 to compete for the chance to become RTITB Operator of the Year 2011 where top prizes include a brand new car and a luxury holiday.
