GTG Hosts Saudi Arabia Visit

GTG recently hosted 3 visits from Saudi Arabian delegates in partnership with Cardonald College. The college currently runs a programme that provides the opportunity for Heads of Departments from Saudi's state colleges to visit Scotland and gain an understanding of how a further educational establishment operates. GTG’s involvement included a private training providers perspective, which can in some areas be quite different from a state-run college.

The key areas of interest for the visitors were GTG’s excellent training facilities and the vast range of technology available within its workshop areas. The Saudi Arabians were also keen to gain an understanding of how GTG ensured best practice in its training provision and how it conducted self analysis of its training delivery and identified areas to improve. During each visit the Saudi heads of departments were very impressed with the commitment to the students and the processes GTG had in place to enhance the retention of its apprentices i.e. parent open days and five-week initial training.

Kathleen Johnston, general manager, GTG commented, “We were delighted to host the Saudi Arabian visits and demonstrate GTG’s working environment and the facilities Scotland’s largest training group has to offer.”
