Engineering (Garage Equipment)

Garage equipment refers to all equipment used in vehicle repair workshops. This equipment helps users to effectively perform operations and tasks specific to their work. This apprenticeship is ideal for anyone who has an interest in electronics and wishes to work in a varied and fast-moving environment.

Areas Covered

This programme covers the following areas:

  • Electrical – 3-phase electricity
  • Hydraulics – Vehicle lifts
  • Pneumatics – Tyre changers
  • Electronics – Control boards

Entry requirements

Candidates must have or expect to gain a National 4 or above, GCSE A–C or Grade 4 or above in Maths, English and a science or technical subject. Standard Grades and Intermediates will also be accepted. If the candidate is yet to sit their exams, they will only qualify for the programme if they achieve the required grades.

The duration of this apprenticeship is 3 years.
